LM - Still frame experimentation

·         Mid close up allowing us to see the faces of both characters placed in the frame, emphasis more on the antagonists face, as they are the character that the audience fear.

·         Character blocking is utilised in this shot as the possessed antagonist is placed behind the

Victim so that they cannot see her approaching, provoking suspense.

·         Ambient lighting is used to create the sense of darkness, as the only light that appears in the shot is the natural light breaking through the small gap in the curtains

·         The internal setting is a bedroom, supporting the idea of terror in the back yard, causing more scares as all audience can relate to being at home, which is usually connoted as a place of security, however not in certain horrors.

·         Non- verbal language is used effectively as the victim sleeps, this connotes their vulnerability to the situation as they are unaware of what is going on around them, and what is about to happen to them.

·         Make-up is used on the antagonist which is a convention of a possession horror in order to create more of a scary look about the character. The colour of black is used around the eyes of the antagonist, which is a colour related to death.

·         The prop of the wardrobe in the background of the shot, is suggestive as it displays where the antagonist has appeared from, which again links to the idea of terror in the back yard as everyone in the audience has a wardrobe at home, and will now fear as to whether a monster is hiding inside.
