- The film was directed by James Wan and had a budget of $1.5 million
- With the filming Wan saw the benefits of a low budget film as nothing was sacrificed on screen, allowing the film makers to have complete control
- The musical score in the film was composed by Joseph Bishara,who also starred in the film as the demon
- The official trailer was first released in January 2011 online via a daily entertainment news website Blastr
- Insidious' premiere took place at the Toronto international film festival in September 2010, less than 12 hours after its screening it was picked up by Sony pictures for theatrical screening
- It was originally distributed by FilmDistrict and Alliance films.
