Yesterday we filmed are ideas for the first time. The location was an issue for us and delayed us filming as it was a hard destination to get all the equipment from school to the woods. We overcame this by organising a lift to the destination to transport the equipment. Another issue we had with this location was gaining access to the antagonists lair. We then decided to change the lair and use Lucas' garage but still making out that it is the woods so the external environment of the woods can still be used.
The main objectives of the shoot was to get establishing shots of the wood and then to establish the antagonist within the external environment. The jib and track were used vitally in this and helped us to establish the setting .
My job in the shoot was to play the role of the antagonist and to portray the character as a psycho and a crank to get the wanted effect of a scary character. Lucas was the cameraman and catching the antagonist in positions where he looks more intimidating and dominant to create horror to the watching audience was done by the angles used in filming the antagonist.
Costume was pivotal in establishing the character. The costume the antagonist wears is not iconic of a horror film in the woods, the costume he wears contrasts the external environment as he is wearing a suit in the woods which is not normally associated further illustrating the wanted effect of portraying the character as unusual and creepy. The machete is a very iconic for a slasher and psycho horror movie. We try to focus on the weapon in shots to emphasise that the antagonist is dangerous creating further horror
In conclusion the objectives set before the shoots were met fully. The objectives were to establish the external setting which we did with the use of the jib. The next one was to establish the antagonist within the woods and we did this with the use of the track and jib. The use of costume and props were used very successfully and created the desired effect of portraying the antagonist as a cranky character.
